Public awareness of the risks and dangers of heart disease has incraeased dramatically over the years, but many Americans remain dangerously unaware of the causes and consequences of chronic kidney disease (CKD). The people of Hawaii are at increased risk for developing CKD, with 1 in 7 or 156,000 people in Hawaii suffering from CKD and another 100,000 at risk.
