World Kidney Day

Come join the National Kidney Foundation of Hawaii as we celebrate World Kidney Day on March 11, 2010, 11:00 am-4:00 pm at the Hawaii State Capitol, in downtown Honolulu.  The event hosted by Justin Cruz of KHON2 will include a free kidney screening, free take-home test kits, cooking demonstrations, testimonials, and a 35 piece marching band from Nanakuli High and Intermediate school.  For more information call 589-5966.

The Maui office of the National Kidney Foundation of Hawaii will also be holding a general screening on March 11th from 10:00am-2:00pm at the Maui Research and Technology Center, where free test kits will be distributed.  For more information on the Maui screening, call 808-986-1900.

As most of us know, it is easy to take for granted those we love--especially the ones who show their love in quiet, daily acts of support that enable us to focus on our busy lives.  It's just as easy, and risky, for people to take their health for granted--especially kidney health.  March is National Kidney Month and World Kidney Day is March 11, 2010.

The National Kidney Foundation of Hawaii encourages Americans to mark these occasions by considering some of the many ways their kidneys quietly support their health day-to-day (filtering their blood, controlling blood pressure, supporting healthy bones) and how much their health will suffer if they develop chronic kidney disease.

If you have one or more of the following risk factors, the National Kidney Foundation of Hawaii suggests you talk to your doctor about being screened for kidney disease or contact Jill at 589-5903 or view our calendar for more information on upcoming free kidney screenings including our free screening at Hawaii State Capital, downtown Honolulu or our General Screening at Maui Research and Technology Center, both screenings on World Kidney Day.
