Happy 2016 everyone! As we begin a new year, I am sure everyone has goals to accomplish. Goals could include things such as losing weight, eating healthier, helping others, exercising more, or maybe finishing school, however, it's important to find your own inner motivation so that you can succeed. So ask yourself several questions: Why do I want to accomplish this goal? Why is this important? Once you answer these questions, keep them posted somewhere so that you can always have it reminding you WHY you chose this. For me, I like motivation boards. If you are trying to eat healthier, try cutting out healthy recipes you want to try along with their pictures or you can post motivational phrases like "Keep up the good work". Once you know WHY, plan out your goal and make it SMART (Specific, Measurable, Action-based, Realistic and Timely).
Example Goal: Eating Healthier (I will eat 1 cup of vegetables with lunch and dinner 4 times per week).
Remember, if you are on dialysis or need to keep your potassium under control, it is important to monitor fruits and vegetables for potassium. Examples of high potassium fruits and vegetables may include but not limited to the following:
Bananas, Avocados, Tomatoes, Oranges, Pumpkin, Potatoes, Prunes, Bamboo Shoots
